Green Schools Project

We are working with the Green Schools Project Herefordshire network who held a Zero Carbon Schools conference in October 2020. The activity was to begin a Schools Energy Savings and Carbon Reduction for their school.

Two Shropshire schools took part in the conference along with a number from Herefordshire and work continues to widen this to other Shropshire schools.

Green Schools Herefordshire are hosting the Energy Diary that we have developed at Lightfoot and a number of Herefordshire schools are using them.

Herefordshire Green Network

An alliance of local green, environmental and Transition Town groups, activists, environmental organisations & businesses, local community groups, town and parish councils and interested individuals. We meet regularly and are involved in grass roots activities around the county.

Anyone in Herefordshire who has a commitment to encouraging environmental sustainability and future resilience, including individuals, groups, organisations, parish/town councils and businesses (both ‘for’ and ‘not for’ profit) can join.

Middle Marches Community Land Trust – Community Map

A Trust owned and managed by local people, to protect, conserve, restore and enhance our environment through the stewardship of land.

We have created a map to feature organisations, charities and groups across the Marches with similar objectives to our own. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out who else is working nearby to aid collaboration.

Open Newtown

Open Newtown is a community-owned company dedicated to making life better. Helping create rich and diverse wildlife in and around Newtown, we both develop and deliver a range of projects. Some are long-term like the 99-year lease of the town’s urban parks, whereas opening up the spaces to cycling and canoeing are short-term projects with everlasting benefits.

Wherever possible, our activities are founded on strong partnerships and foster community cohesion, a sense of place and community spirit. The mission is to help make Newtown open for all.

The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covers almost a quarter of Shropshire. It’s a living landscape, loved by locals and visitors alike for its quality of environment, rich history, and for walking, relaxation and inspiration.

Think Global, Act Local – A Community Action Group in it for the Long Haul. We are a registered charity that helps people to become more energy efficient, save money and reduce their carbon emissions.

Climate Change is real, happening right now, even in the UK; and it is a huge challenge. We know that this is a global problem and will only be solved by global action, but it is important to be active locally.
