Food Strategy, Seed Bank, Local Food, Food Bank and related initiatives

From Little Acorns . . .

Daphne du Cros, the author of Bishop’s Castle’s Food Resilience Strategy, recently took part in a NALC Environment and Climate committee call, and took the opportunity to present on the Right to Grow – the motion that was passed by Shropshire Council for the use of publicly owned land for cultivation, which Incredible Edible is taking as an amendment to the Food & Farming Bill at Westminster.  Daphne the opportunity to speak about Bishop’s Castle having the first Food Strategy and Food Policy Council in the county, as a part of our local climate strategy, noting that if any climate strategy doesn’t include food, it’s missing a key part.
Daphne was subsequently asked to take part in a Government Task & Finish group on climate action, as the Food lead.
Bishop’s Castle and our approach to local food resilience is putting our little town on the wider political radar amongst NACL and SALC groups.
