Moths’ Group

Moth Group
Our Moth Group has been running since the start of our project in 2024, and now meet once a month to set up moth traps (harmless light traps) and record what creatures come along. Together, these records help us to form a picture of moth species throughout the town and across the year, which all feed into a species list for Bishop’s Castle. Moths are a very varied indicator group of species, which can tell us a lot about our environment as a whole.
We set up our traps the night before then gather the following morning to unbox them over a bit of tea and cake, it’s very civilized! All of us are novices, so no expertise is required to join in.
